Hirota shrine
Hirota shrine is the only shrine in the country with a long history of protecting people from illnesses, diseases, and calamities, located in Aomori-shi.
It is also known as a great photo spot, with the Tsugaru-ben mikuji in the shape of an apple or a scallop, mizu-mikuji (a type of omikuji that predicts one’s fortune) that float on colorful flowers in the water, red seals with designs unique to shrines in Aomori, and Aomori Nebuta items displayed on the grounds of the shrine.
In the summer, Nebuta festival season, 130 goldfish Nebuta are lined up at the Otorii gate of Hirota Shrine, decorating the town and creating a nostalgic scene for local residents.
The goldfish Nebuta were donated by many people through crowdfunding.
Since then, the shrine has been enshrined in the precincts of the shrine to pray for the prosperity of the community and the happiness of its people, thanks to people who have donated goldfish nebuta lights every year.
